HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We picked up trash around the Frontier Park block. We had a special surprise and bumped into an ex-scout from the neighborhood, who jumped at the chance to help clean-up. There were several brush fires throughout Southern California so we encouraged people to wear a mask if they were concerned about the air quality.

Thankful Month
This month we focused on giving and thankfulness. We picked up trash around Joe A. Gonsalves Park, Alondra Blvd, Carmenita Rd, 166th St, and Marquadt Ave. We found the most trash around the park at the edges of the baseball fields. Surprisingly not much trash was found on the roads near the middle school showing improvement from the middle schoolers and elementary schoolers for picking up after themselves.

This month, our efforts were focused on picking up trash around the Cerritos High School block, ensuring that sidewalks, pathways, and surrounding areas were free of litter.
With the additional support from CSF, we were able to cover more ground and make a greater impact. The teamwork and enthusiasm of all the volunteers made this cleanup a huge success!
A big thank you to everyone who participated—especially the Cerritos High School CSF group—for their commitment to keeping our city beautiful. We look forward to more collaborations in the future!

June 8, 2024 9:00 AM - Picked up trash in Palms Park block. => DONE
This cleanup's theme is on dads because of Fathers Day.
Out turnout for this cleanup was ok as we had me, 3 young scouts, and one adult, totaling to 5 people. We cleaned up in the Palms Park block covering Palms Park, and Palms elementary school. The places where we found the most trash were the walls along the park and along the sidewalks of the roads we walked through. We covered Bloomfield Ave, 207th St, E Centralia St, Del Amo Blvd, and Norwalk Blvd. On this day we had a fun surprise with a car show as a lot of the cars were old models, us young scouts had a blast to the past.
May 18, 2024 9:00 AM - Picked up trash in Liberty Park. => DONE
(because of AP tests, this was rescheduled from the original May 11, 2024 date)
This cleanup's theme was on Star Wars. With the force by our side, the volunteers and I were able to efficiently cleanup this big park and the sidewalks that accompanied it.
Our turn-out included 3 scouts, and 1 adult, which totals 4 people. Due to schedule conflicts and the majority of high school students having tests, not many people were able to come out to volunteer. Our area to cleanup was Liberty Park. Not much trash was found in the park, but we did find trash near the trash cans. Why can't people aim better and put their trash inside the bids. We did a good job picking up everything.
April 27, 2024 1:00 PM- Pick up trash in Artesia Park block. => DONE
(because of rain, this was rescheduled from the original April 13, 2024 date)
April clean-up will included volunteers from Cerritos High School's Octagon club. We had a good turn out of both scouts and helpers from Octagon club this cleanup. The theme for this cleanup was Easter themed.
Our turn out this time consisted of 6 people from the Cerritos High School Octagon Club, 4 scouts, and 1 guest, which totals 13 people. We told our volunteers to clean around the highlighted yellow areas from 183rd St, Norwalk Blvd, Pioneer Blvd, South St, and Artesia Park. The areas where we found the most trash were the park and the sides of the roads. Coincidentally we noticed that a lot of trash were found near the trash can as people missed the bin and left it there.
March 9, 2024 3:00 PM - Pick up trash in Don Knabe Regional Park and Tetzlaff Middle School blocks. => DONE
March clean-up will include volunteers from Whitney High Schools Junior Optimist International club. What better way to do spring cleaning than to spend time with fellow students making our city look more beautiful.
We had a great turnout this time as our volunteers surmounted to 14 people helping out in total. With the addition of Whitney, we expanded our cleanup area to two blocks including all of Don Knabe and Tetzlaff Academy blocks. We cleaned up in 195th street, Norwalk Blvd, Del Amo Blvd, and Don Knabe Park. The majority of our volunteers helped out in the park. Along the streets that we highlighted on the map and inside the park we found a lot of trash.

December 9, 2023 2:00 PM-pick up trash in Friendship Park block.
December, Jolly pickup. This month's main holiday is Christmas and we celebrate this by being jolly and spending time with others around us. There will be special Christmas cookies to celebrate this month at the end of our pickup. We will meet at the biggest hut at Friendship Park.
The cleanup went well with 5 cleaners coming to help cleanup. We allowed for the cleaners to pick up along the highlighted area on the map and around the park. From what the cleaners have said, there seemed to be a lot of trash on the highlighted route but also a lot of trash near the houses. The trash found on the routes near the route seemed to be more abundant rather than the trash fond at Friendship Park. We picked up trash on Artesia Blvd, Marquardt Ave, 183rd St, Carmenita Road, near some houses, and in Friendship Park.
November 19, 2023 9:00 PM - Pick up trash in Gonsalves Elementary School block. => DONE

November, Thankful cleanup. Since this month's main holiday will be Thanksgiving, we will prepare special sweets and an activity asking the cleaners what they are thankful for this month. Meet at Gonsalves Elementary School parking lot.
Due to weather and unprecedented circumstances the outcome of scouts was me my younger brother and my dad. Our overall route was more filled with trash as we walked along the road near the school of Carmenita Middle School. We had picked up trash at Carmenita Middle School, Gonsalves Elementary School, Stowers Elementary School, Marquardt Ave, 166th Street, Carmenita Road, and Artesia Blvd.
October 14, 2023 2:30 PM - Pick up trash in Frontier Park block. => DONE
October, spooky cleanup. With this month being October, Halloween month, we will be handing out candy at the end of the cleanup to encourage more trash collection. Met at Frontier Park shelter.
We had a good turnout of 5 scouts and 4 adults. We obtained new cloth reusable trash bags that can hold more trash than the plastic trash bags before. We had plenty of bags and pickers to provide to every scout and adult.
There weren't a lot of trash so there weren't that much to pick up. Still, areas around the school where kids leave a lot of trash after school when walking around the sidewalks had trash. We picked up trash around the Frontier Park, Whitney High School and around the streets of 166th St, Bloomfield Ave, Shoemaker Ave, and Artesia Blvd.
September 9, 2023 8:30 AM - Pick up trash in Cerritos Park East block. => DONE
9/9/23, 8:30-11:00 Today we had our first cleanup around the block of Cerritos Park East. We got a lot done but the most important thing was to learn how the layout was and how the system would work. On the first day we walked around the block of Cerritos Park East, and we noticed a lot of trash on our route following the sidewalk. Our trash bags had filled up quickly, but we were able to empty them as there were a lot of trash cans along our route. One of our grabbers for the trash bags had broken as they weren't as sturdy as we had thought. Our cleanup had ended with a loop around the Cerritos Park East loop.
