I started Crowd Cleaning Crew because I live in Cerritos and I noticed lots of trash during my walk around the neighborhood. So, I wanted to find a way to clean Cerritos and help the community. I was involved with Save Our Beach, Seal Beach's monthly cleanup effort and so thought of doing the same thing in Cerritos.
I was talking to my dad and we decided to take action by cleaning a block every month.
Crowd Cleaning Crew conducts a Monthly Cleanup on the 2nd Saturday of the month.
We provide gloves, pickers and reusable bags so we make less trash. You’ll need to return the bags to the starting point. You're welcome to dump the trash at any public trash bin you find on your route.
Crowd Cleaning Crew is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, FEIN # 93-4251282. That means any money you give us is tax deductible. You can donate using the link on the bottom of our home page: https://www.crowdcleaningcrew.org/.
We're also a Certifying Organization for the President's Volunteer Service Award. That means any hour you volunteer with us can count towards this prestigious recognition. You can find more information here: https://presidentialserviceawards.gov/
Finally, we're an approved Community Organization for the City of Cerritos. The city takes great care of us and we're doing something to take care of the city.
Guidelines:
2 people per route (buddy system).
Always wear gloves.
Empty any collected trash at trash bins you find along your route.
Do not squeeze the grabbers too hard, as they are not as strong as you would expect.
If there is anything that is not the color of nature, it's trash so pick it up.
Make sure to pay attention and not walk into the streets.
Try not to get distracted, and focus on the task at hand. No staring at your phone.
Watch out for dog poop.
Report any large trash items to the Crew captain.
